Elroy, your examples are more along the lines of acute inflammation. silent inflammation is more like every cell in your body is over producing inflammatory eicosanoids.

as for immune function, i've gone almost 2.5 years without a serious cold since i started this anti-inflammatory diet. i still get colds, but my immune system knocks them out much more effectively so the symptoms range from 5-20%.

i can't recall previously ever going more than 12 months without a cold that side lined me, but i can remember being sick nearly every day for a month.

i have no doubt my immune system is working better.

my days off from work due to cold have decrease 100% (about 3-5 times a year down to zero) and my time off due to flus is down from about 3-4 times a year to 1.5).

i'm 43 this year and i've never been healthier. in another year or two i will be faster, stronger and have better endurance than i ever had before - and this is coming off 20 years of muscle atrophy due to ulnar nerve damage.

the damage is still there, but i've reduced my cellular inflammation enough that i can do most exercies with little problem (pull ups being the lone exception right now - so i work my back in other ways).

bottom line - right now every cell inyour body is either producing too much inflammation, not enough or about the right amount.

the zone is designed to make sure your pro and anti-inflammatory eicosanoids are being produced near an optimal ratio.
