If i had to guess, he told his wife he had to break it off in person... I strongly suspected something was up when Sanford's wife said she didn't know where he was, that maybe he needed to get away from his kids. That's a pretty nasty thing to say, especially for a politician's wife, sounded more like a woman scorned to me... Well, she had kicked him out of the house two weeks ago.......supposedly it was to be a trial separation. His wife is no retiring wall flower......she's from a wealthy Irish American family out of Chicago and was a VP for a Wall Street firm before marrying Mark "hotlips" Sanford. He told everyone he was going for a hike when in reality he was going for a rendevous in Argentina.
