Have you heard the latest? Microsoft is targeting the embedded market - the concept is to get firmware product designers to use Windows CE (embedded version of Windows) as a real-time embedded operating system. It "only" requires about 10Mb of flash ROM. Wow, a Dilbert manager's dream; make an embedded processing system so expensive it will redefine product development world-wide.

Where did you get 10MB? Windows CE 2.0 is less than 2MB. I may be wrong here, but where did you read that?

Windows CE is not the embedded version of Windows. It was designed for the handheld market, and for things like set-top boxes (WebTV). They are pushing it now for a lot of things, including embedded systems.
