yes, you may be correct when you say all of the fossil fuels may have been CO2 in our atmosphere at some point. However, all of our fossil fuel was not up there at the same time.

If left to Earth's natural cycles, there wouldn't bee as much CO2 in the atmosphere as there is today. Do you agree with that? That seems pretty obvious. Human's have added quite a bit of CO2 into the atmosphere and this represents an external force that is disturbing the natural cycles, which is why we see CO2 levels jumping up above the upper control limits over the last 800,000 years (3 sigma above the mean).

As far as alternatives, you are falling into the same trap as everyone on this thread. You think that current price levels will remain constant for alternatives and that is a very basic error in assumptions. Alternatives are nothing more than technology. When hundreds of billions have been spent in the past on new tech, that tech has almost always improved fairly rapidly. We're seeing massive amounts of money being spent on renewable energy and alternative vehicles globally. It has already driven costs down substantially. That trend will continue. It is a certainty that renewables and alternative vehicles to ICE propulsion will be cost competitive at some point in the future, more likely sooner rather than later given the amounts currently being invested. To think otherwise is simply an error in forecasting.
