Excellent in many ways, Plato. Thanks.

While watching, the thought occurred that one wishes more people in positions of responsibility demonstrated Immelt's combination of intelligence, realism, pragmatism and commitment.

In a more general sense, the interview supported this comment:

"Looking forward to the day when we begin to see posts about a revitalized US, with a return to the old "can do" attitude.

What's done is done. I just don't believe that the US - the greatest political experiment of modern history - will let itself fade to nothing. Despite grievous errors, the US has made tremendous contributions to the welfare of mankind. America's enemies are loud, but less numerous than its friends. The United States has been a beacon for millions.

Sooner or later Americans will look to the future, and renew themselves. They'll rediscover the virtues that made the US great, among which are a strong work ethic, thrift, ingenuity, and fair dealing.

That's what I believe."
