Steven, from where it started the day it was up nearly 20%. not bad. i made that on a few trades here with CYMI today due to some very brave souls buying at the low (myself included). mike, your worldview may bear out, but why don't we try to make money in the meantime regardless (although, i consider the deflation story as more theory than reality - the dow jones article regarding Japanese jumping up to buy more Treasuries today bore out the simple rule of buying the the stronger rising dollar against a dropping yen - as long as this occurs - the dollar remaining strong - rising interest rates accompanied by deflation in the US is pure speculation by bears)

it is amazing though that the bears think up the most horrifically potentially devistating situtation and get others to hang their hats on it. rising interest rates accompanied by deflation. someone is laughing their .... off today about this. if anything, the world is more likely to experience hyper inflation due to el nino and rising commodity prices as poor indebted countries print money to meet expanding debt and continuing rise in the cost of living. hyper inflation and a rising stock markets - the totally opposite picture of rising interest rates (recession with falling stock markets) and deflation

the mutual funds and investment banks have been treating the markets like a place of "war" - creating diversions to hide the real activity behind the scenes, i.e., blame Hong Kong for a falling market when in fact mutual fund managers were locking in their pay for the year, locking in a few more snorts around the office and a trip to Borneo
