I'm not really overweight... but could use dropping a dozen or two pounds. Dieting doesn't seem to do the trick - too much eating on the run.

I'd like, if I may, make one suggestion. About a year or so back I heard a cardiologist discuss a study showing that discontinuation of a statin is associated with an increase in "events". It sounds to me that this may be related to the loss of the anti-inflammatory effect. Perhaps, it would be a good idea to discuss this with your doc. At the very least, it may be wise to increase Aspirin, if only for awhile. A stress test every few years... helps to know where you "stand".
