The enormous increase in current spending over revenues will just make the inevitable reckoning come sooner.

We had an opportunity (actually several opportunities) to soften a lot of this problem. Back in 2000 the window of opportunity was wide, wide open. Gutless politicians on both sides...

Tougher now, but inevitable.

The private sector is already going through its own contraction of "entitlements" with the dropping of pensions, 401(k0 matches, retiree health care, co-pay increases, reduced covered medical procedures.

the public side will be forced to do the same by our "owners" in China, Europe and the Middle East.
