Phew! Well, I'm happy--at least in the short run... On Monday I afternoon I did a little calculating (based mostly on projected earnings but cut down by 20%) to figure out what was the price at which I couldn't afford not to buy Intel. ie. if I were to hold till after Merced's out. Put my order in Monday early afternoon, and thought the stock wouldn't get there unless there was a real meltdown--in which case I would have been buying high--and found out today that I doubled my position by picking up more INTC at 70.375. We'll see how it pans out in the long run, but I won't sell unless my view of Intel changes. I wouldn't be surprised, though, to see it trade lower before 1999 (when Merced's due.)

The one thing I do know for certain is that I can't predict where the market's going. I just try to sort out what company's stock I'd ideally like to buy, figure out a price that looks too good to be true, and buy if it hits that.

But for now: yippee!

Good luck to all, and make sure your seatbelt's fastened. There's more bumps ahead.
