It is getting to be a lot of fun. An actual US$ is a promissory note, a mere IOU, nothing but an image on a piece of paper or plastic or a pixelation of magnetic field. But even US$ is not good enough so they go to another level of IOU = We promise to give you actual US$ when we come by some.

Politicians issuing promises to pay promises is quite absurd. I wonder how long government employees will go on accepting promises to be given promises as payment for pretending to do work. I wonder if those promises to pay promises can be converted to groceries and petrol at face value.
