>>That comment about the cartoon of the baby was ridiculous<<

People in top executive positions like governor or president need to be able to compartmentalize and multitask. They need to have a thick skin and ride above the fray, enduring tons of boring tedious stuff while getting precious little gratification. But Sarah's brain is just not wired that way. As her former top aide John Bitney explained (after she fired him for personal reasons), "with Sarah Palin there is absolutely no separation between the personal and the political."

I think she resigned as governor because she finally admitted that she's not cut out for that line of work. She'll have plenty of opportunities now to both earn a living and be involved in politics without becoming a candidate again. Further down the road she may be tempted to run for president, but I hope her family keeps her out of it. If she does run for president, I'm pretty sure she'll blow up again.

>>Is your new governor someone with their head screwed on straight?<<

Lite Guv Sean Parnell is a steady, low-key guy who is said to "put the lack in lackluster." He'll fill out her term OK, but bigger guns in both parties are already sighting in on him. I expect we'll see at lest two formal announcements on Monday.
