Sarah Palin to resign as Alaska's governor adn.com IMO, Palin's governorship blew up last summer over TrooperGate. Firing the Public Safety Commissioner cost her tremendously, both politically and financially. She was already sliding off the rails before McCain picked her for VP. It's pretty hard for people from outside to understand this though.
