Bailing out a state is not the same as bailing out a corporation that employs hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country. CA could solve its problems if it had the political will. With the auto industry, its going to take a lot more than political will.

Bailing a corporation that employs hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country, but then it is OK not to bail out 36 million people of California. So it is OK that police protection will be reduced, that the state is still saddled by the cost of illegal immigrants due to the Federal Government not protecting the border.

So, it is better to bail out all those top executives who took bail out money for their bonuses and let decent citizens of California suffer?

GM screwed up big time. Let the company fail and liquidate that whatever left. The auto workers will definitely find other jobs in the car industry since other more efficient companies like Ford and Toyota and Honda will take the slack by producing better cars in the US with American workers. Even Korean car makers make better cars than GM.
