It's more like you guys don't understand what scarcity does to prices and why it is smart to hoard a scarce commodity in these circumstances.

I guess if I'm the one doing the hoarding, it would be pretty scarce from your perspective.

The goal SHOULD be NOT to hoard, but to use the next 20 years to facilitate a planned strategy for converting to a viable alternative fuel source.

Creating artificial scarcity by prohibiting/restricting domestic drilling is not smart.

However, taxing some of the proceeds from the production of fossil fuels and DEDICATING it to the R&D and development of Alternative Energy technology and infrastructure would not be out of line.

We pay a fairly sizable tax already as a percentage of spot price for fuel. But are we sure it's all being applied to vehicle related infrastructure?

I don't think so..
