Killer whales are not the one, same species around the whole world.

I think they likely are. But I know the more you divide up species into unique ones, the more endangered species there are to block development everywhere. The northern spotted owl vs the southern spotted owl ... yadda yadda yadda. If you can call every pod a unique species .... wow, they're all endangered.

If I had to weigh the total environmental impact of coal fired power generation (mining, transport and emissions) vs solar thermal electric generation it's very obvious which would have the lessor impact on the world's environment and the one which would be sustainable long term.

You'd probably put coal out of business if you could. After all, you don't need it.
