Ali, i believe the losses for last quarter were -1.85. I agree with you that revenues are what will tell the tale. I don't know about the revs other than the report about increased line installations, which i will repost below. I don't know how losses may be viewed. It could be argued that increased losses above expectations could reflect an increased rate of buildout. (and vice-versa) If revenues are up substantially, imho it won't much matter what the losses are. Would appreciate hearing other viewpoints on this.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1997--
CLEC Line Orders Reached 33,000 in Third Quarter -- Cumulative Installed Lines Increase 70% from Second Quarter -- WINSTAR COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (NASDAQ:WCII) reported today further strong growth in demand for its services during the third quarter ended September 30, 1997. WinStar said competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) line installations exceeded 20,000 for the first time in a three-month period. Cumulative CLEC lines installed reached approximately 51,000, up almost 70% from the level of 30,240 lines at June 30, 1997.
CLEC line orders also reflected very positive trends during the quarter. Orders for more than 33,000 lines were placed by customers, bringing WinStar's cumulative line orders to approximately 77,000. The order rate for the period was 46% above the 22,256 lines ordered in the preceding three months.
Nathan Kantor, WinStar President and Chief Operating Officer, said today the company's momentum was particularly visible during September, when approximately 9,000 CLEC lines were installed. ''The rate at which WinStar provisions new orders continues to reflect both our passion for customer satisfaction and the speed-to-market advantages of our Wireless Fiber(SM) services remarked Kantor.'' |
