As I keep saying look at Alaska. we have lots of money and pay no taxs and our social sytems are pretty much intact. Do you think it was luck that Alaska is in such good shape? No, it was not luck, it was brillant planning by a bunch of enlightened lefties. We forced the right wing and oil companies to set up a government program to put aside 25% of all out oil revenu in a savings account for the children. Any state could have done what we did, but the right wing does not like governmentinvolved in our lives. We had to fight the right wing and oil companies every step of the way. We liberals had our way in Alaska. In other states the right wing won. We did have to buy off the right wing and oil companies with tax cuts like ELF, but in exchange we got teh Permanent fund in the constitution and it takes 3/4 vote to raid the principle. That will never happen. We fashioned an iron clad economic system of saving the right wing could never get at. We figured that whole thing out!! Can you imagine the neo cons and GW figuring that out or even wanting to do it?
