I have ATT.

Here's what I do when I need help:

1) when the help answers I IMMEDIATELY ask for the second level tier because the first level people are nearly computer illiterate - they use a dichotomous key book to diagnose your problem (I have a friend who is computer illiterate who worked at this level.)

2) The second level people are more knowledgeable but not extremely. In my experience I am more knowledgeable and I don't consider my self anywhere near Allen's level.

3) The guys who physically come out know the most. But if the problem is your fault/responsibilty they charge you $75+/hr.

4) The supervisors know nothing.

The last time I dealt with them, my router would log on then off continually. The 2nd level guys were telling me it was my Mac, but I protested that my PC wasn't doing it. I also noted that the routers log showed it was doing the logging of and on.

The supervisor (I do not lie) kept telling me that 11k html files were overloading the system!!!

When I finally had them send out a tech BETWEEN the two of us we figured out it had to be the network interface. He found a legacy chipset attached to it that was causing the problem. Since it was on their side of the interface they paid.
