In fact, it rarely gets warm at all.

Glad to hear that as I'm in the market for a new machine. Speaking of which, my current 15" had to be have its motherboard replaced a couple of weeks ago. (Shocking!) That was a first for me for a Mac. Fortunately, I was covered under extended warranty.
