I suspect that our modern politicians fully believe that if they could only get their hands on healthcare, everyone will be better off. They probably don't even care very much what the final product will look like - for as long as they find themselves at the head of the table.

I personally think that they are wrong.... that intrusive government is dangerous... that much could be achieved in healthcare through LESS regulation and control, not MORE... But - these days that's a very contrarian view. No one invited me to share my views.... worse - they didn't even bother telling me to... keep quiet... LOL!

Interestingly, a few days ago during an informal chitchat session in the doctors lounge, I asked a few docs what they thought would happen if JCAH would get abolished, and what, in their opinion, that would do to the quality of patient care. They all thought that nothing would change, and that quality of care would not change one bit - at least, not for the worse.
