It's called a war. The idea is a war is fought with complete focus. No distractions from total victory.

In this case total victory would be not one single consumer of hemp left alive in the world.

To win the war requires putting on blinders so that you avoid thinking of the enemy as anything resembling human.

Psy ops runs propaganda machines to maintain public support, as much as possible, for the war effort. Any positive media coverage of the enemy must be suppressed. Facts are twisted a little (or a lot) to show the enemy in the worst light possible.

If you think of the war on marijuana users as being a real war, there should be no surprise about such information not being on the front page.

Hemp/marijuana cultivation would:

positively impact energy dependence
reduce health care expenses for the nation
reduce the size of government
help balance government budgets
increase the productivity of the US

and

save millions of US citizens lives.

And I know .. we must keep the kid down the street from smoking a joint. But after seventy years of this war, billions of dollars wasted, thousands of POW's, that kid still started smoking the stuff a couple of years ago.

The existing laws don't keep anyone from smoking the stuff.
