Agreed, the prospect of a new, competitive operating system appears very intriguing indeed. Let's set aside the obvious for a moment, except to note that a move like this one has been needed for a very long time, and is long overdue. So why do I get this deep-down sense that it will cost me or anyone else just as much, if not possibly more, depending on how one values their privacy, in the form of 'in-kind' forfeiture of personal predilections and other individualized information, by the time this new operating system is married up with Google's other applications, as I'd ordinarily spend at Staples on a shrink-wrap equivalent by Microsoft or any other source? ------
