I've told a lot of my friends the last couple of years that I'm not buying another car powered on fossil fuels. If you don't need to buy one for a few years I recommended that they not buy one because of the breakthroughs we are having in battery tech that are finally beginning to roll out into production batteries. Saft's new batteries are the forefront of research breakthroughs that happened the last few years. Some of the newer designs now being tested have shelf lives in the tens of years with very high cycle lives.

If you need a car now I would go for a high MPG car. Ten years from now fossil fuel prices will be much, much higher. I'd like to see NG development increased but there are problems with that. It's not as simple as folks think it is.
