'Let us accept things as they are and profit off the folly of the world', Nathan Mayer Rothschild. That clearly works for the Corps of Engineers and the 'never ending projects' (..i.e.: Mississippi river flood control, dredging the Panama Canal, beach erosion projects along the Guldstream, etc..) that they seek out, accept, and enjoy through many, many Commanding Officer retirements. Eventually, Mother Nature gets tired of the limp-phallused egotists and sends a Katrina or Mt. St. Helen's as a reminder of who's really in charge. And, that sure ain't ALGORE or Greenpeace.
The same holds true for basic economic principles, regardless of how the Ultra-AI-programming slime manage to manipulate the markets and systems with worthless derivatives and CDSs based on wet-back mansion loans.
Out of oil and gas, the Germans were running on pure Ethanol at the end of WWII, and our current 'know-it-alls' are still doing studies and sputtering over going to E-15 or allowing unexposed LNG or Propane bottles in cars, truck and non-specialty busses. You usually have to go out of your way or to a truck stop to get E-85 for your FlexFuel ride here in Iowa.
Biomass to Biogas and algae, etc., to Biodiesel are the easy answers, the bioresources are staring at us from all the landfills and unused non-arable land. Sequestration of CO2 in algae that can then be used for Biofuels and animal feed is quickly coming to the fore, also. .. Aka: Screw OPEC.
