Harry Truman was the man next door. He worked out okay.

Personally, I'd like 1) someone who is not the paid-for property of Goldman Sachs and 2) someone who has better common sense than your typical Harvard business school graduate.

I think it was the common sense thing that sustained Truman.

Smart alone is overrated. John Meriwether is probably considerably smarter in terms of IQ than Sarah Palin or Harry Truman. He founded LTCM and he's currently shutting down his last hedge fund. Would we want him running the country?
