This is just such a sleazy tactic.

If you want single payer, then let the People make the decision on an honest basis. Don't lie to the 90% who are gullible enough to buy it.

This is what happened in the recent election. The naive voters bought a product (Obama) with an understanding that it was one thing, only to find when they got it home and unwrapped it, it was something totally different.

Put it out there and let people choose. Don't hoodwink them.
