This is just such a sleazy tactic.

If you want single payer, then let the People make the decision on an honest basis. Don't lie to the 90% who are gullible enough to buy it.


The only logical sense in creating a "public" option" is to have it eat up the competition. Otherwise, it makes zero sense - it would be just another run of the mill "honest" insurance co. However, with the full political and financial support from the government, it will "evolve" into being the ONLY option.

Same was done by Roosevelt in the 1930's, with the Tennessee Valley Authority. THe Prez felt that utilities were too important to be left in the hands of greedy capitalists. TVA was created to "compete". So they did - until the private companies (led by Wendell Wilkie) in the end had to sell themselves to the TVA.

The model is all worked out, and ready to go.
