You understand of course that the .25u won't happen until 3Q 1998.
(Jerry himself said so). And this is the best case, it will be later than that, given that all of the best engineering resources are concentrated on the yield problem.

Do you understand what can happen between now and 1year from now. By then the world would have moved to the slot1(check your local store, and find out how many systems are socket 7 and slot 1, it will give you an idea).

AMD will have to use their tiny chips as embedded controllers or those windows CE toys and airplane seats (sell them at $10).

End result, no more AMD.
