They won't sue. Constitutional legal doctrine [public figure; NYT v. Sullivan and its progeny] prevents it or makes it extraordinarlily difficult to prevail. As a result, whether they like it or not, big time politicians can be attacked with virtual impunity. Price of putting themselves out in the public arena.

The lawsuit threat is smoke blowing for public consumption. It would be a huge waste of dough. Plus, what is she going to get in return in the near-impossible event she wins? A judgment of say $1 million which the blogger can't pay and another huge bill for legal fees?

The best thing to do with the attack bloggers, from the right and the left, is to ignore them. Reacting to them is futile and self-defeating. Professional pols need to grow thick skins. She hasn't.
