The news on Japanese DEflation returning was chilling. Japan, for many reasons, is a canary in the mine shaft for global economic outlook.

Credit remains so tight....and there seems little inclination for it to loosen. Value of underlying collateral is slipping....creating further intransigence.

The picture is not pretty at all.

And some would continue to insist that the "economy was not broken" as of October last year.

The liberal side, Krugman, is howling that the second stimulus is necessary. No green shoots for him.
