Open Letter to the Thread
I've noticed in last few days that a good many of the regular posters here have basically stated or indicated their belief that Palin is DOA for national politics.
I find this interesting from a group of people who tend to post pretty stout negative opinions about Obama and some of the liberal decision making coming from his administration. These postings suggest to me that you are either republican, conservative or perhaps libertarian in your political philosophy.
That said, I can only wonder how you jump to the conclusion that Palin is without chance in national politics. I know the libs have drunk the koolaid on her but I hope you all have not. Please don't act like the know it all pundits who bless us with their expertise each day. Give this more thought.
Don't forget that she is extremely popular within the republican party and quite so amongst the independents.
Her tremendous popularity last year, even amongst many of Hillary's voters, means something. A key reason why the liberals and the liberal media are so intent on destroying her is that they fear her. She has the power, the personality and the character to win independent voters over and some blue collar votes. Should Obama continue to screw up our foreign policy and the economy continue to wane, she could win as easily as Reagan did. The democrats could in fact hand it to her. In this country, political history often tends to repeat itself.
She gave life to McCain in spite of the idiots running his campaign and how they handled her. She is now in charge of herself. Lets see what she can do before preempting her as a potential candidate.
She is not a Dan Quayle. No way, no how. She can not only spell potato but can also spell Salmon and Halibut and ANWR.
If she chooses to run she will have plenty of competition from other republicans, many of whom will actually not even be her equal in my view.
One of the things I like about her is that she is decisive and not afraid to make a decision. I am of the opinion that she would have solved the Somali pirate takeover of USS Maersk-Alabama in a nano second by telling the USN to send in the Seals. Unlike our president 'who wanted the FBI to negotiate the solution'.
And she would have promptly stood up for the green stripers in Iran, unlike Obama.
And it is doubtful there would be a Palin Motors in Detroit.
Yes, she is thin on international politics, but so is Obama. So was Reagan. So was Bush. So was Carter. So was Clinton.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that she is not some East Coast liberal, some Beltway elite or some Hollywood/West Hollywood "know it all".
For the most part, she stands for what has made this country strong, capable and trusted for leadership and support when the chips are down.
My bottom line is this: Give her a chance to tell us what she has in her head. This is not the time to prejudge her or her motives. Who cares if she writes a book? Which politicican in DC has not? Which potential president has not. Many have, and not only one book.
Personally, I have no idea if I will vote for her should she ever run for POTUS. But, I know of some of the republicans already mentioned who will not receive my vote.
End of rant.
Have a nice day. <g> |
