It's fun to speculate over what Apple, might do, should do or should not do, but after awhile it's pointless to keep debating back and forth about price points.
Personally I wish I could by a Quad for $1500, but that's not going to happen. I won't be buying a Windows machine though. My time is worth too much to make that cost effective. It's worth it to pay more and do much less maintenance in terms of man hours.
If you really want to debate raw prices then Linux is the winner not Windows. Linux is free, it's not a virus magnet, nor a spyware magnet, it doesn't slow down with time, the register doesn't get screwed up, apps are free.
The only advantage Windows has over Linux is ubiquity.
In the future my next machine will probably be a Linux machine, but for now what I care about is Apples strength vs the larger market, and more importantly the larger market. |
