What do you mean "if Hong Kong wins"? It sems to me that no matter what happens to their currency the huge amount of wealth destroyed in the stock market collapse means the country has already lost. Fixed currency rates will always fail in the long run because they are a version of a command economy and do not have the self correcting mechanisms of a free market. The "money raiders" are oportunistic attackers- they can only suceed if a currency is over or under priced in some fundamental way already.
As their recent history has shown, HK is full of hard working intelligent people that have learned most of the lessons of real wold economics. THey will do fine in a market system. Just my opinion, FWIW
