The fate of America literally depends on the (controlled) perceptions of the investing hordes. One day, there are green shoots and people from Osaka to Oakland are throwing money into the markets with both hands. Two weeks later a bad feeling sets in and the same scared money scurries away like a jaded rat, along with the economic future of a generation or two. Behind the curtains, the likes of GS are calculating and recalculating the max pain and what not in order to squeeze every last dime out of every pension fund still around.
