I don't think that most American Jews think Barack Obama is their messiah, they're just suckers for the "social justice" shtick and the "historical civil rights moment" shtick. Plus they are basically liberals.

As Obama's real policies become evident they too will start to peel away.

"But what about Jewish anti-Zionism? Is that a rare thing?"

This is a more ambiguous question than he knows. Jewish anti-Zionism falls into roughly three camps: the self-haters, who are so desperate for acceptance that they will declare their own unworthiness, the hopelessly naive, who think that only the Likudnik hard-asses are standing the way of a lasting peace deal (the NYT told them so), and the haredim: the ultra-orthodox who believe it was sinful to found Israel because we should have waited for the Messiah. Only the haredim are ideologically anti-Zionist; the first two camps deny that they want Israel destroyed, though this would be the clear result of the policies they favor.
