PK,

I do not like dreadnoughts and own zero of them. I only buy OM's, as they are the most balanced and versatile. OO are nice, as 12 fretters have some magic from the short neck and the placement of the bridge in a more optimum sweet spot on the top.

A good compromise might be an 000 12 fretter or an OM configured with a short scale (also called an 000). Actually two of my OM's are triple O's, as they have the shorter 24.88 scale. The short scale is easier on the left hand and give the guitar a slightly warmer tone.

I wish you would give a used Collings a try. They are making old school magic down in Austin. Think 1931 pre-war Martin sounds. Holy grail stuff. I know you would be crazy happy with it. Honestly, I don't want to play anything else anymore. I've got three of them now and a fourth being built for delivery sometime in the first half of 2010.
