Hawk,
if Intel's Andy Grove had said that PCs weren't ready for prime time, when most PCs were kit computers built by geeks as a hobby, then we wouldn't have had the PC revolution. I remember telling my friends that everyone would own a PC one day, when they made fun of me. I had no idea what they'd be used for in the business world, but I knew a use would be found. And now you are saying the same thing about electric cars and their potential, because you doubt that the batteries can be improved. Hmm. You are being really short sighted.

Two phrases that will haunt you ten years from now (and I will make sure to remind you): 1) "the inevitable march of technology" and 2) "economies of scale".

They both apply to the electric car market and have the potential to dramatically reshape the auto industry. If we followed your advise for all of the industries we've become powerhouses in, then we would only have invested after every other country had proven that those technologies were viable and after they had locked up the lion's share of the profits. It's a good thing our entrepreneurs don't think like you do. Otherwise, this country would be very poor indeed.
