What about the street that runs in front of your house

In our case, we pay for any improvements to that street.

or the blvd you do your shopping on .....all those roads are maintained and built with monies from taxpayers.

And I indicated I think there is some basic level of infrastructure support that is appropriate. But I like the model of user fees for major projects at this point, since the country is flat broke and getting broker by the minute.

In other words, taxpayers subsidize the roads on which cars travel. And there are millions of miles of roads in this country.

Yes, but may of the more expensive highways today are being built as toll roads. In other countries, it is becoming more popular even for private investors to participate in toll road construction which I think is an excellent concept.
