BHP, Rio Halt Spot Iron-Ore Shipment Bids to China, FT Reports

July 15 (Bloomberg) -- Rio Tinto Plc and BHP Billiton Ltd. have stopped putting spot iron-ore shipments up for bid following the detainment last week of four Rio employees in China on allegations they stole state secrets, the Financial Times reported, citing the Steel Business Briefing consultancy.

The halt in shipments has pushed up prices of the raw material for Chinese steelmakers, the report said.
