I didnt have much of a problem with the return of the top bracket to the Clinton rates, though I had hoped that money would be used to reduce the deficit. This latest tax is going to bring marginal rates to around 45% which means that state taxes will bring that number above 50%. Personally, that is my line in the sand on taxes. I dont believe that a dollar earned should ever provide more revenue to the government than it does to you.

Beyond that, I agree think that there are real problems with having a government paid for by so few people. It makes the costs invisible to the vast majority of the people which means reform is nearly impossible.

It is mind boggling how badly the Republicans had to screw up to take a basically centrist country and hand it over whole handedly to the Democrats. Ugh.
