but if we get some geopolitical issue, with this economy, a big spike in gas prices could send us reeling.

The issue that most worries me is that, IMO, there's a very strong chance that Israel will attempt to take out Iran's nuke capacity before they develop "the bomb".

Couldn't blame them for doing it, either, as that nutcase running Iran has threatened to wipe Israel off the map.

If Iran responds to an attack by closing off the Strait of Hormuz, then the price of crude will shoot through the roof...
