Yup. If you read my comments here you know I also believe that. It is why I am so hard on Krugman. Having said that I watched the budget deficit soar under Reagan - brought under control by Clinton - and then soar again under Bush. The biggy here is that it soared under Bush even though he said his tax cuts would do just the opposite. Additionally, it soared under Bush when times were good and we should have run to a surplus. And then the real evil of the Bush deficits - we got nothing for them. Virtually no infrastructure or meaningful positive spending. We could have achieved as much by dumping money down the toilet. So conservatives have lost all faith with me. Now we are struggling to repair that damage. It will take some time and lots of money.
