CIT likely to file for bankruptcy Friday

By V. Phani Kumar Jul 16, 2009

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- CIT Group is likely to file for bankruptcy on Friday, CNBC news reported on its Web site Wednesday, citing a source close to the company.

The company, which lends to small- and mid-sized U.S. businesses, was surprised at the failure of bailout talks and is pursuing a plan that is likely to include a Chapter 11 filing, the report said.
