I think that they have. I think the chart the Greenspirit posted a bit ago which showed that job loss was greater than what was being predicted for even the first quarter of '09 shows that things are far worse than what was being predicted.

The government needs to make up the demand that is lacking in the economy right now so the deficits are needed right now. The fact that increased taxes are being discussed right now is also a good sign because revenue will need to be brought into balance with spending. The question is there the political will among the Dems in Washington to eventually show the restraint on the spending side.

Healthcare definitely complicates this whole process. It would be helpful for American business to be competitive for a good bill to address healthcare in this country to be passed. I think the push for this is good. I know that it is important to get this done as quick as possible but I fail to see the benefit to rush something out right now, unless they think that they won't have the political capital to get this through later in the year.
