He didn't lie. We all felt is was urgent to get something done back then, so that we'd get the stimulus sooner rather than later. Imagine had we waited another 6 months. Instead of the stimulus starting to kick in right now and continuing over the next 12-18 months, it wouldn't have started to kick in until the end of 2009. That could have been disastrous. As it is, the timing is nearly perfect to take an economy that is struggling to recover and starting to look better and add a booster shot that will kick it right back into gear. The timing couldn't have been better, in my opinion.
