>> Kuwait and Iraq were not friendly nations.

Which has exactly nothing to do with the issue.

This is what you said the ambassador said:

"we do not take positions on border disputes between friendly countries."

Apparently, at the time you made that post, you thought it did have something to do with the issue. I can't keep up with your change in moods.

> Mr. Atkins was not a good ambassador.

I made no statement about Atkins, but he is absolutely correct that her response was totally appropriate in the circumstances, and frankly, any other response would have been gross incompetence. She had no directions from Washington, and as a result, the only proper response is "We don't get involved in Arab-Arab disputes".

It was his opinion. Since his professionalism has been brought into question, his opinion doesn't mean jack....at least not to me.

> Where is his evidence to support his theory?

Ask Pollack. He was a military analyst for the CIA who specialized in the Persian Gulf. If he says it and you disagree, well, I think I have to side with him.

Without any evidence to support his position??? Of course......you never question those in authority. That's how people like you elect people like Bush.
