Raising taxes on the rich doesn't create prosperity, it creates revenue during expansions.

Obviously, the marginal tax rates during the Clinton years were not inconsistent with prosperity.

What those rates gave us (something we never had during the Bush years) was revenue large enough to drastically reduce our deficits and actually start paying down our debt (according to CBO data)...

Assuming we have another expansion, we need to start thinking about our debt. We'll need to raise revenue. The path Bush and the Republicans put us on is not sustainable.

Republican economics is a slogan, not a real policy.
