It takes a while to settle down in the automobile industry.

For many years that we can remember, the industry sells 10 million trucks and vans, and 6 million cars and station wagons.

Now it is changing, because of the designs of crossover. SUVs are obsoleted, and station wagons are gone.

You have compacts, then crossovers, and big trucks. Traditional purchases are now disrupted and new models may not exactly fit the old applications.

Almost every one will have to buy crossovers. One car fits all.

The small engine crossover has yet to appear, for fuel savings.

The hybrids are small cars, so sales will be limited. Small cars crossover to heavier trucks will only happen in China.

Until small engines with higher revolutions are designed, auto sales may not be back up to 17.5 million per year anytime soon.
