I think the government could contribute constructively to the problem by building more medical colleges. If there is a shortage of Doctors and Nurses, why not address it directly. Also why can't we eliminate pre-med. Frankly I don't care if my doctor read Shakespeare, as long as he/she knows the difference between a spleen and a liver. This would reduce the cost of becoming a doctor and lower everyones costs. lj
