I think that one way or another we'll have to give up on the notion of egalitarianism in healthcare. Some of us drive Maseratis, others can't afford a car at all - and yet, for some reason we expect that when it comes to healthcare everyone gets treated the same. Hospitals are way too expensive - in part, because of overwhelming regulation. We need cheaper hospitals. Not sure how to accomplish this, but it sure won't happen for as long as they have to answer to 700 different agencies. Making that possible would be a REAL reform.
